Dear ACM and GLCA Colleagues,

Just two months until our meeting in Chicago!! Our group is coming together nicely. There’s still plenty of time to respond and be included. Remember that both #1s and #2s are invited.  So far, we have 14 ‘yes, definitely’ and 4 ‘interested, but not sure.’

As you plan the rest of your semester, please let us know if you can attend or not. The link is in the original message below.

Many thanks,
Marc and Karen

All,

Many thanks to those who have responded to the message below re: ACM/GLCA VPSA meeting in Chicago. I’m sure that the list will continue to grow, but wanted to share some initial, proposed discussion topics/agenda items:

  1. student (and staff) retention and well-being
  2. staff recruitment
  3. threat assessment
  4. SCOTUS decision re: race and admissions
  5. Gen Z changes in our student bodies and how institutions respond/adapt
  6. mandatory reporting
  7. FLSA regs
  8. value-add of fraternity & sorority life
  9. facility management

I hope to hear from more of you by week’s end. This year, representatives from the ACM and GLCA Offices will join us as well. I know that we have many new people in the group. If you have any questions about the meeting, please reach out to me.

My original message with link are included below.

All the best,
Marc

Subject: ACM/GLCA VPSAs Meeting in Chicago

Dear ACM/GLCA Colleagues,

We have been working with Betsy from the ACM and Mickey from the GLCA on hosting our annual meeting for VPSAs. Based upon personnel and space availability, we are set for December 11 and 12. This is different from our typical Thursday and Friday meeting, but keeps it connected to a weekend. Unless the group grows beyond the capacity of the conference room at the ACM building, we’ll plan to meet there, 180 N Michigan Avenue Ste 2020, Chicago, IL, 60601.

At this time, hotel rates are quite reasonable, so we have not reserved a room block nor special rate. There are several hotel options near Michigan Avenue and Lake Street/Millennium Park area.

We plan to meet on Monday, December 11 (morning and afternoon) followed by a no-host dinner at a nearby restaurant that evening. We will gather again on Tuesday until 12pm or 1pm. We will share exact times as the agenda comes together. For your planning purposes, we will start Monday’s meeting around 9am.

Please use this form to indicate your interest in attending. There is also space for you to suggest agenda items or topics of discussion. Your input will help us develop our schedule and meeting format. I know that many plans might be tentative, but to help with our planning, please respond (even if unsure) by Friday, October 6.

We look forward to hosting our annual meeting—a great way to end the academic semester!
